I started CrossFit as a way to supplement my running and add variety to my workouts. As my days at CrossFit Rise turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, CrossFit soon became my priority. My three years at CrossFit Rise have given me the best (and worst) workouts of my life. CrossFit has done more for my self esteem, strength, friendships, diet, and overall health than running ever did.
I had been wanting to try CrossFit for a few years before I actually took the plunge. I always had an excuse of why I couldn't - "not enough time", "I need to get in shape first", "I want to talk my husband into it and we can go together" etc. I had a few Facebook friends my age who had gotten on board and absolutely loved it. I decided enough is enough and jumped in. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that the classes have to offer. Coach Justin is amazing. He broke down the movements to a level that I could understand.
Every single person who has been lucky enough to call themselves a member of CrossFit Rise, has impacted my life in some way. I came in to Rise as a very introverted and self conscious person, but I do not think anyone who meets me today would believe that. Through the course of my three years there, I have found others who believed in me, which has in turn helped me to believe in myself.

Another successful Reebok CrossFit Open is in the books at CrossFit Rise! The addition of the Intramural Open made this year the best Open yet. We had the most participation from our athlete population in our 7 year history of hosting the Open. Our crew consisted of Fitness, Performance and Competition athletes proving the fact that the Open really is for everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level!
With the Rise 90 Day Boost! coming to a close, we wanted to share some successes from the program and announce what’s up next for Crossfit Rise Nutrition!
My first impression when I walked into the gym that first day was probably nausea. That first class was beyond intense and incredibly difficult. However, Justin scaled some of the exercises for my fitness level, and the fact that I could complete the full workout was motivating enough to keep me coming back. I definitely feel like I have more confidence, now, in what my body is capable of doing. My progress may be slow, but I can see it, and that feels really awesome.
Everyone is so positive, encouraging, and welcoming, no matter what time of day you go. I have moved up to the Performance classes and while I'm definitely nowhere near finishing any workouts first, I AM finishing them before time caps, making improvements and gains every day, and learning so much about myself along the way.
